No Sign of a Commissionerate – District Youth Congress

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Nov 1: Mr. Arun Coelho, the president of the District Youth Congress, has accused Home Minister Dr V S Acharya of not keeping his promises of setting up a Mangalore commissionerate. The home minister had announced the inauguration of the new commissionerate on November 1; however, there is still no sign of a commissionerate.

According to Mr. Coelho, the crime rate is on the rise in Mangalore, owing to which appointing a commissionerate in Mangalore is of paramount importance. Moreover, public grievances are being repeatedly ignored. For instance, MESCOM has failed to provide quality service to Mangaloreans even though the bills were paid on time; and the chief minister has failed to provide solutions to the problems of the arecnut farmers although he keeps visiting temples to perform poojas.

Mr Coelho announced that the members of the District Youth Congress would organize a protest in front of the DC’s office on Nov 2 if the home minister failed to announce the correct date for setting up the Mangalore commissionerate.
