Koraga eves hold jatha in city

Mangalore, March 8: Demanding for an effective implementation of various laws related to women, girl child and  domestic violence, the Koraga women’s organisation of Dakshina Kannada district took out a jatha from  Light House hill road to the Deputy  Commissioner’s office on March 8. Nearly 300  women participated in the rally organised as part of Women’s Day. 

The President of Koraga Federal Organisation, inaugurated the rally. In his address, he said that the state government should not ignore the problems of Koraga women folk.

The participants demanded for an effective implementation of anti-domestic violence act. They also sought for a separate section in women and children’s welfare department.

A memorandum pertaining to the demands were handed over to the Deputy Commissioner.
