Points for action at meet are just eye wash

Mangaluru, July 21,2016: In a statement to media,  social activist G. Hanumanth Kamath on July 20, Wednesday alleged that the recent District Road Safety Committee meeting had been nothing but a farce, eye wash  and was only conducted to build more records without any proper follow up on tackling issues raised.

Activist Kamath said,   though Wednesday’s meet  was being held after about eight months, the MCC. Mangaluru City Corporation had not acted upon any recommendations made during the last meeting. “There has been no follow up on any of the issues raised in the previous meeting,” he regretted and added that no evidence was there to indicate that there was some attempt to follow up.

Simple and cheap measures such as erecting barricades on medians of busy roads, including K.S. Rao Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road etc., could  allow pedestrians to cross roads.  Roads with educational institutions and students are becoming victims of road accidents,  Kamath said.
