Mob robs 2 of cash and gold near Brahmavar

Mangaluru, May 31, 2016: According to the police, it has come to light that 2 persons were allegedly assaulted and robbed of cash and gold ornaments near Yedthady village coming under the Brahmavar police station limits on May 29, Sunday night.

Karunakar Hegde was travelling in his car with his friend Nityananda Shetty from Barkur to Yedthady at 10.30 p.m., when a lorry driver blocked their way. When they queried, the lorry driver started shouting. At this, about 60 workers of a road construction company came from a nearby camp and allegedly assaulted them.

The group took away cash and a gold chain each from  Hegde and Shetty. The total cash robbed from them was Rs. 57,000 while the value of the gold chains taken from them is estimated at Rs. 1.04 lakh. A case had been registered and investigations are on it is sated.
