Techie who was washed away in the sea yet to be traced

Udupi, Feb 2, 2016 :  According to the Malpe police,  search operations for a software engineer from Villupuram in Tamil Nadu, who is feared drowned in the Arabian Sea at St. Mary’s Island near Udupi on January 30, continued on Feb 1,Monday. The search is yet to yielded results.

It may be recalled that ’Mangalore Today web’ reported that a group of five friends, working in a software company, had come from Bengaluru to St. Mary’s Island at around 3 p.m. on January 30.   Two of them, Manikanthan and Vivekanandan, got into the sea water. Later, Vivekanandan (26) from Villupuram in Tamil Nadu went and sat on a boulder close to the sea.

A big wave came and hit the boulder on which he was sitting. Vivekanandan fell from the boulder and got swept away by the wave and was drowned. But the body has not been recovered so far. A team of local fishermen and policemen have been trying to trace him but have been unsuccessful.

The police and fishermen would begin the search again on today Feb 2.  The Malpe police have also intimated nearby police stations along the coastline in Udupi district. A case has been registered, the police said.
