3-day retreat in honor of St John Marie Vianney

Bantwal, Feb 24: A 3-day prayer service was conducted at St John Marie Vianney Church, Bantwal in commemoration of the 150th death anniversary of the saint. Fr. Vincent Coelho, the priest of St John Marie Vianney Church, organized the entire event.

Feb 19, Friday was dedicated to the prayerful life of the saint. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza and Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas conducted the adoration, way of the cross, and the liturgy. 

On Feb 20, Saturday, Fr. Boniface Pinto, the director of Mangalajyothi preached a sermon on sin and need conversion, followed by a Taize prayer ceremony for the youth of Bantwal Deanery. Members of the Jesus Youth of Mangalore led by Anil conducted the prayer service. 

On Feb 21, Sunday, Fr. Henry OFM Capuchin of Farangipet conducted the adoration and the way of the cross. 

Confession was arranged for the devotees during those 3 days. Fr. Cyril Noronha, Fr Joseph Uday, and Fr Edwin Correa were at the confessionals. 

A solemn Eucharistic celebration marked the end of the programme. Rev Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, presided over the entire event.
