Teacher held on sexual assault charge

Mangaluru, Nov 28, 2015 : The Ullal police have arrested a 33-year-old teacher of a private school on the charge of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.

The police said Dolphy Sequeira (33) from Chembugudde has been teaching English and social science in primary classes at a private school in Ullal. Sequeira has been accused of dragging a 12-year-boy into a room and sexually assaulting him on Wednesday.

The police said the boy reported about the incident to parents, who filed a complaint with the police. The police arrested Dolphy Sequeira for offence under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act. He was produced before a local magistrate, who remanded Dolphy Sequeira in judicial custody. In a statement released to media, the private school management said they had placed the teacher under suspension. A four-member committee has been set up to inquire into the allegations against the teacher.
