Mangaluru: Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College, Puttur, organised an orientation programme on consumer education July 4.  Senior member of Forum Durgarchana said securing marks is not the only objective of joining forums and associations in colleges. As member everyone must acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and actively contribute their ideas.

D K District Federation of Consumer Organisations Secretary Vishnu P Nayak said consumer education enables individuals to develop ability to become critical consumers. Through consumer education, consumers are equipped with knowledge, skills and understanding of markets. It enables consumers to judge and make competent decisions about their financial transactions. Coordinator of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities cell Prof Udaya K said along with curricular activities, extra curricular activities play a role in education in many ways.
