Mai Gaavm by Violet Periera will be released Feb 21

Mangalore, Feb 17: “Mai Gaavm,” an anthology of 50 Konkani poems written by Violet Periera will be released on Feb 21, 2010. The poems revolve around burning social issues. The preface to the book has been written by Austin Prabhu. The publisher of “Mai Gaavm” is Mangalorean.com.

 

Ms Periera, who is a part of the mangalorean.com team, is based in both Mangalore and Dubai. She is involved in reporting, marketing, photography, and writing. Her writings have been published in Daaiz, Rakkno, Bendoreso Talo, and Maiibhas. Ms Periera says that she was first inspired to write poetry when the Tsunami struck the Indian coastline, destroying life and property and causing great distress.

The book, which costs Rs 50, is available at all Konkani book stalls in Mangalore. The funds generated by this book will be donated to the Fathima Educational Trust, which helps educate under privileged children.
