Udupi, June 2, 2015: The Union government has finally sanctioned a Kendriya Vidyalaya for Udupi, meeting a long-pending demand of the people here.

In a press release here on Monday, Deputy Commissioner R. Vishal said that the Kendriya Vidyalaya would be started here immediately. It would be temporarily located on Vadabhandeshwara Government High School premises in Malpe. The district administration has granted 10 acres of land near the Suvarna Karnataka Samuchayya at Alevoor village for the construction of a new building for the Kendriya Vidyalaya, he said.

After the construction of the building, the Kendriya Vidyalaya would be moved from Malpe to Alevoor. There was a persistent demand for a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Udupi for the last 18 years.
