Valencia area, roads get spruced up by campaign

Mangaluru, May 25, 2015 : A  mound of garbage in the area that had not been cleared for days was cleared and the area and bus stop were given a clean look.

  These were some  works done by volunteers in Valencia on May 24, Sunday as part of the Swachch Mangaluru campaign of Ramakrishna Mission. This was the 17th week of the campaign by the Ramakrishna Mission in Mangaluru city, the entire  campaign is for 41 weeks.

Volunteers started with clearing the area in front of Fatima Retreat House. They repaired a portion the bus shelter that was in a poor state and made a facility for bus commuters to sit. Similarly, they gave a new look to the bus shelter at Valencia Circle.

Volunteers also cleaned the area around the circle. They cleared the silt accumulated in the drain adjoining Roshni Nilaya and covered it with cement slabs.  Ramakrishna Mission’s chief swami Jitakamanandaji, MLCs Ganesh Karnik and Ivan D’ Souza, students of Yuva Brigade, Ramakrishna Mission, and Balakashrama participated in the exercise on Sunday May 24.
