Udupi puppetry troupe for Indonesia

Udupi, May 24, 2015 :  Prof S A Krishnaiah-Udupi (Resource Person of Central Sangeet Nataka Academy) as executive director of Ramayana Puppets Festival in Indonesia of Nadojashri Belgallu Veeranna troupe (Shri Ramanjaneya Togalugombe Mela-Bellary), will lead a puppetry troupe which will be performing in Indonesia from May 24 to 31.

The team will perform at Jakarta Indonesian Theater Arts Department and Museum on May 25 and at Suryakarta (Solo) Indonesian Institute Theatre Dept shows and at Bali’s  Consul General-Embassy commissioned puppets play and workshop on May 26. ICCR-New Delhi and Sangeet Nataka Academy sponsored the leather puppets of Ramayana Play of Belagallu Veeranna team. Traditional  Leather puppets play has lost out from the main stream, as a cultural rapport Karnataka leather puppets (Shadow Puppets) similar play is called "Wayang Kulit-Shadow puppets in Indonesia Nomadic tribal arts of shadow puppet play artiste ready to interact with Indonesian Dalang (puppeteers);  Karnataka puppeteers popularly called  ’Gomberama’

The leather puppetry artistes: Mahalingam, B. V. Ramesh; B. V. Prakash, K. Lingappa;Chilagod; the artiste from ManukulaAshrama, B. V. Mallikarjuna; and the tabla artiste, B. V. Hanumanta are part of the festival team.
