Man, woman assaulted

Mangaluru, April 17, 2015  :A 72-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were allegedly assaulted by a group of persons after the two were allegedly found in a compromising position in their car near Ullal beach on Thursday.

The Ullal police said that the group allegedly pulled out the man, a retired bank employee, and the woman, who runs a creche, out of the car. The police rushed to the spot and got them admitted to a nearby hospital.

The retired bank employee has filed a complaint accusing the group of assault. The police are searching for the persons involved in the attack.

A 40-year-old labourer has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital following injuries after falling down while removing a hoarding near Nehru Circle in Pandeshwar on Wednesday.

According to the Mangaluru South Police, Muralidhar Puranik was among four labourers removing the hoarding.

On the complaint by Muralidhar’s colleague Honnappa, the police have registered a case against Narayana Bhat, the person supervising the work, of negligence.
