Jail inmate assaulted attacked in Udupi jail

Udupi, April 17, 2015 : As per reports, a jail inmate was allegedly attacked by another prisoner at the Udupi district jail at Anjar village near Hiriyadka on April 14 and is under treatment at the  Government Hospital.  According to police statement, Prashanth Mogavera (22) who was in judicial custody in barrack number one.  An unknown inmate  attacked him  twicw on that day at 8.30 am and 3.30 pm.

 Prashanth was admitted to the hospital. A case has been registered at the Hiriyakada police station under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code and investigation is on, the police said.

Prashanth had been arrested by the police on the charges of sexual assault and murder of a pregnant woman on April 11.  Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai said on April 16,  that a couple of suspects had been identified in the assault of Prashanth and matter is being investigated.
