Mangalore Today News Network

April 16, 2015: Addressing media on April 15,  Vishu Shetty, social worker,  urged the government to provide  better facilities at the District Government Hospital here.  Shetty said that the doctors and the existing staff at the District Government Hospital were providing good service to an extent.  Services are generally available at the hospital in the daytime, many were not available at  night due to  shortage of staff.  Only one medical officer available during the night. Facilities such as emergency surgery, scanning and others were not available during the night.

Many people visiting the hospital were migrant workers. These migrant workers often did not have the below the poverty line (BPL) cards, which would entitle them for free treatment. The authorities must urgently formulate a solution.
