Holidays in a row, plan your ATM withdrawals in advance

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Mar 24, 2015 : People who wish to conduct bank transactions may plan their activities for the next week in advance as there would be no transaction on three days, including two holidays. The possibility of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) getting drained out by the weekend too is not ruled out.

Banks would not conduct any commercial transaction on April 1 due to annual account closing. They have advanced this annual process by a day from March 31 to facilitate payment of taxes, said a senior official of a nationalised bank in Mangaluru.

It is Mahaveer Jayanthi on April 2 and Good Friday on April 3, both holidays for all State government offices and banks. On Saturday, though banks would remain open, it is a half working day.

ATMs may get drained up due to the long holidays, as banks face practical difficulty in storing additional currency notes because of the maximum cap on the amount that can be kept in an ATM, he said. ATMs managed through outsourced agencies may not be affected much, he added.
