Padubidri, October 30, 2009: Padubidri Police have arrested 6 people for allegedly possessing and selling fake heroin. Further investigations have revealed the fact that the sale of heroin is an organized racket with its headquarters in Bangalore and Shimoga.

The 6 persons arrested were in a car near Yermal. They told the truth when they were interrogated. All the 6 were students and belonged to elite families. The police confiscated small packets, the contents of which were later discovered to be fake heroin.

Sandesh Shetty, one of the arrested, resides in Mangalore; and the others are from Shimoga and Bangalore. According to official sources, the gang targets students who are far away from their homes. These students use their pocket money to purchase fake heroin; and later, they are asked to sell the packets, after which their money was returned to them with commission.

Harish from Bangalore and Mahesh from Shimoga were the leaders of the arrested. The associates were Sandesh, Imran, and Rajesh. Police released 3 other students because they were found to be innocent.
