Sampaje: ban on multi-axle goods vehicles still in force

Mangalore, Jan 14, 2015: The Kodagu district administration has reiterated that a ban order is still in force on the movement of multi-axle heavy goods vehicles via Sampaje Ghat in view of the road repair works near Koynad on Bantwal-Mysore National Highway No. 275.

Despite the National Highways Authority of India banning the movement of bullet tankers, ship cargo containers and multi-axle goods vehicles, they continued to violate the ban, said Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari. Their movement on the Sampaje Ghat road, which has sharp curves, often resulted in accidents thereby endangering others.

The order, however, would not come in the way of operation of any passenger vehicles, including multi-axle Volvo buses.
