Speaking plays vital role in keeping a language alive

Mangaluru, Nov 14, 2014:  Speaking at the children’s day programme organised by the Academy in Mallikatte in Mangalore on November 12. Lion district former Governor Kripa Alva said that the development of a language is not possible without it being spoken in homes. Quality of patriotism should be cultivated in children, she said.

Konkani has been included in the SSLC curriculum since three years. This year, the study of Konkani has been facilitated in four colleges, he said and added that the Academy has brought out 15 works in a duration of last six months.

Two childrens story books one “Bhangaracho Keer” (Golden Parrot written by Sri J.F.DSouza, Attavar and the other “Jadoo Dhol” written by Smt. Gowri Mallya released. These books are published by the Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy, Mangalore.

Prizes were distributed to the children who won various competitions.  Academy Registrar Dr Devdas Pai and others were present.
