MANGALORE: Districtin-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai is to inaugurate women special treatment ward for the victims of sexual assault and domestic violence at Lady Goschen hospital in Mangalore, on November 1.

Speaking at a meeting here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said that the State government had announced the setting up of an exclusive  ward in its budget. Three rooms in the Lady Goshen hospital have been earmarked for the purpose. The ward will have lady two doctors, two women cops, three nurses, a legal advisor and a counsellor.  The state government has earmarked Rs 5.39 crore for the purpose and will be located in 35 places in the state. Superintendent of Police S D Sharanappa said that all the police stations in the district have two women police personnel.
