Mangalore, Sep 20, 2014: Media reports indicate, ABVP has flayed the use of abusive words with photographs of female students in the social network website Facebook.  In a memorandum submitted to Women’s Commission through Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, the ABVP office-bearers stated that a few persons have uploaded photographs of college students with the wording “Sexy models, hot girls” with the name of the student. The police should conduct a probe into the incident and initiate action against those who have committed the crime.

The memorandum has urged the State government to implement the laws related to the safety of women effectively. Fast track courts should be set up to hear cases pertaining to atrocities on women. Laws should be tightened to check increasing cyber crimes, the petition said.  The ABVP said that youth should be cautious while using social network media. The accused who have committed the crime should be arrested.

ABVP divisional secretary Jayaprakash said that 10 female students photos were uploaded in the Facebook a few days ago. When contacted the students, they were not aware of the incident. Serious preventive action is urgently needed.
