Auto driver harassed by youth group

Mangalore, Sep 14, 2014 : According to police, in a supected moral policing incident, by a group of youth took a driver to task, who was engaged by a parent to drop his daughter to the house after the college hours, at Valachil on the outskirts of Mangalore on Septembe 13.

A group of Muslim youth took the driver belonging to other community to task for dropping the girl from other community. Sources said that the situation was brought under control after the father of the girl informed the group that he had hired the vehicle to drop her home. The police said that they had rushed to the spot, soon after they learnt of the incident. “Though we have asked the driver and the girl’s father to file a complaint, none came forward and said that the incident occurred due to misunderstanding.”
