Call helpline 1098 to rescue children

Mangalore, Sep 13, 2014: Chairing a meeting of child line advisory board recently, DK DC A B Ibrahim said that people must freely use the child helpline 1098 for all vital child issues in and around the city of Mangalore.

Yogish Rao of Childline Mangalore unit said that the Childline has received 3,302 calls so far and children have been rescued in 332 cases. Among these, 19 child labourers, 32 atrocity on girl child, 8 child marriages, 4 illegal activity, 56 miscellaneous, 41 begging, 22 missing, 2 medical treatment, 32 sponsorship and 91 school related cases are recorded.

Senior civil judge Nagalingana Patil, Women and Child Development department Deputy Director Gurtrude Weigas and officials of various departments were present.
