Boat engine theft gang arrested

Mangalore, Aug 27, 2014:  In a  case pertaining to the theft of boat engines in Padubidri, the police nabbed the culprits and have seized the boat engines that were sold out in Dambrej port in Gujarat.

The prime accused, Hussein and Ismail were involved in the theft since past one and half years. They sent the stolen engines to Gujarat through lorry. Police traced out the whereabouts of the lorry driver and finally revealed that the engines were sold to Khasim Moindheen from Dambrej.


All the three, including the driver, were arrested and are in judicial custody.  As many as 11 boat engines worth Rs 13.20 lakh were recovered. They stolen boat engines from Ullal, Malpe, Bolur, Mukka, Bengre, Manjeshwara, Panambur and Gangolli.
