Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Aug 25, 2014:  According to a press release, two prayer books in Kannada / Roman script were released on Aug 24. The Holy Cross Church at Kulshekar in Mangalore witnessed another milestone in the promotion of Konakni language in the christian religious portal .

The main aim of the books is to promote and stabilise local languages, especially Konkani, in the wake of the challenges faced from the popular English language.

The Konkani language, like many local languages,  is facing challenges due to the necessity for English language in the wider world. With an aim to teach the younger generation the taste of Konkani and take this language to the next generation, Holy Cross Church published the two books.

The family prayer book was published using both Kannada and Roman script. The regular daily prayers recited both in church and homes would be very handy to those people who do not know Kannada script.

While Jezu Songim Mageam was released by Federation of Konkani Catholic Association (Bangalore) Chairperson Edward Dsouza, another book Novena of Holy Cross was released at Cordel parish church, Mangalore.
