DVS to college students ’Be job creators, not job seekers’

PUTTUR, Aug 19, 2014:  Speaking after accepting felicitation at St Philomena College in Puttur, of which he is  an alumnus,  Union Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has urged the students to be the job creators than job seekers.  “Instead of going in search of jobs, students should make a difference by taking up avenues that create jobs,” he said.

Speaking about education, the minister listed out four components which makes education effective, namely, ‘learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together, learning to be.’ Imbibing these four components in education will make it more powerful and influential, he said.  Humbled by felicitations, he said that he was proud to be the alumnus of the institution. “I am proud to say that the foundation my life’s journey is traced back to St Philomena College and I owe a lot to this institution.” The Railway minister also inaugurated the post graduation courses in Economics and Computer Science on the occasion.

Mangalore University Department of Economics Professor Sripathi Kalluraya said that computer science was the need of the hour for the younger generation and need of economics will last forever.

Kalluraya advised the students that based on their learning, one should be innovative in their approach and look out for anew type of development.  St Philomena College Campus Director and Chairman of PG studies Rev Antony Prakash Monteiro and others were present.
