State’s First HRD Center to Provide Free Services in Mangalore

Mangalore, October 29, 2009: B N Bache Gowda, the state’s minister for labor, inaugurated Karnataka’s first human resource development center, established in the Mangalore City Corporation building, Lalbagh. The center will provide free services to employers as well as job seekers. 

The center is the result of the collaborative efforts of TeamLease Services Private Ltd and Mangalore City Corporation. Vishnukanth C. Chatpalli, the executive director of Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation, said that the center will provide myriad services such as training and maintenance of a database of prospective employees. 

Job seekers can visit the center in person and register their details. Alternatively, they can visit and get a permanent number. These details will be saved in the center’s database for the perusal of prospective employers. 

The center will also provide free training in language and communication skill and conduct free personality tests. Mr. Chatpalli informed press people that the center will focus on training candidates on the 440 skills required as per the modular employable skills scheme. Successful candidates will be issued NCVT certificates. 

Mr. Chatpalli also said that the government has provided all the required facilities for the center to function effectively. TeamLease Services would conduct registration, skill assessment, counselling, training, and placement activities. 

During the inauguration, Mr. Gowda gave 7 job seekers an employment offer letter from 2 companies. Some candidates also received skill-assessment certificates. 

Prominent people such as S R Umashanker of the department of employment and training; Mr. Shankar Bhat, the mayor; MLC Ganesh Karnik; and MLA U T Khader were present on the occasion.
