Angelore Parish celebrates its platinum jubilee

Mangalore, Jan 27: Fr. Stany B Lobo, the parish priest of Angelore, informed press people during a press conference organized in the parish hall on Jan 25, Monday, that the Guardian Angel Parish of Angelore will celebrate its platinum jubilee from Feb 7 – 14, 2010. 

Fr. Lobo presented details of the week-long event. The celebrations will commence on Feb 7, Sunday, with a Eucharistic procession from the grounds of Capitanio School to Angelore Parish. A special prayer service for the deceased will be held on Jan 9, Monday. The votive procession will be held from the grounds of Capitanio School to Angelore Parish on Feb 12, Friday, he said. 

On Feb 14, Sunday, the Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, will celebrate the holy thanksgiving mass at 9:00 a.m. After the mass, the education fund will be inaugurated, following which the former parish priests of Angelore will be honored, after which there will be a community lunch. 

Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Gratian Alvares, Superior of Capitanio Convent Sr. Humblin, Vice President of the Parish Council Jossy D’Souza, and Secretary Philomena Tauro were present during the press conference. 

The Guardian Angel Church, located on NH 48 between Padil and Pumpwell, was built on March 3, 1935 and blessed by Bishop Victor Fernandes. Today, the parish has 785 families and 3,500 members. So far, ten priests have served the parish as parish priests. Fr. Stany Lobo has been the parish priest since 2005.
