Dr. K K Achary appointed acting vice chancellor of Mangalore University

Mangalore, Jan 10: Chancellor of Universities H. R. Bharadwaj appointed K K Achary, the senior dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Mangalore University, Mangalore, as the acting vice chancellor of Mangalore University on Jan 9, Saturday. 

Dr. K M Kaveriappa, the present vice chancellor of Mangalore University, will complete his term on Jan 11, 2010. Since a vacancy would be created in the office of the vice chancellor of Mangalore University, H R Bharadwaj, the governor and chancellor of universities in Karnataka, appointed Dr. K K Achary as the acting vice chancellor as per the powers conferred on him by Section 16 (2) of the Karnataka State Universities Act 2000. The decision was taken as per the guidelines of Section 14 (4) of the above-mentioned act.
