Minister demands immediate repair of Town Hall chairs

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 10: J Krishna Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, visited Town Hall on Jan 7, Thursday and was annoyed to see several broken chairs in the hall.

Upon being queried, an officer who was present replied that the chairs were being repaired from the last line. But when the minister checked the last line, he found that all 20 chairs were broken. He reprimanded the officer for giving him wrong information.

Currently, the Town Hall has around 100 broken chairs, which have not been repaired for the last 18 months. When Ganesh Hosabettu was the mayor of Mangalore, he had promised to get the chairs repaired within a week; but he failed to keep his promise, and the new mayor did not bother to repair the Town Hall chairs.

Since the Town Hall hosts significant programmes almost every day, the large numbers of people who gather to view the programmes are forced to remain standing. In spite of all this, the officers do not take the required steps to repair the chairs.

The minister instructed Madhukar Gadkar, the municipality joint commissioner, to get the chairs repaired immediately.
