Serial Killer’s 19th Victim

picMohan alias Anand has allegedly killed yet another woman, Shashikala (26) of Konaje, who was reported missing at Konaje Police Station on October 21, 2005. Shashikala is the daughter of Narayan Madivala, resident of Kaniyoor in Balepuni, near Konaje. 

Shashikala, who was employed as an assistant in a children’s nursery, left home on October 21 on the pretext of attending a meeting of nursery assistants and never returned home. Police duly registered a case; however no progress was made till Mohan provided some information about her during interrogation. 

Shashikala’s body was discovered at Bangalore and the Upparapete Police Station had written off the case as suicide. The girl’s post mortem report showed that she had consumed cyanide. After his arrest, Mohan confessed that he had killed Shashikala. Her parents identified her from pictures in the police records. 

Currently, police sleuths are investigating cases of 3 more missing women in DK, although Mohan’s involvement in these cases has yet to be confirmed via interrogation. 

Puttur ASP Dr. Chandra Gupta has confirmed that so far 12 missing women have turned out to be the victims of Mohan. 

Police have informed that, so far, Shantha of Kankanady, Sharada of Kedila, Baby Nayak of Peraje, Hema of Mittoor, Yashoda of Madantyar, Sunanda of Pervaje, Vinutha of Puttur, Shashikala of Kariyangala, Anita of Barimar, Vijayalaxmi of Kasargod, Pushpa of Malleria, and Shashikala of Kaniyoor have been identified by their parents from photos available in police records.
