Doddanmane Health Center Haunted

24 October 2009

The newly constructed health center of Doddanmane in Siddhapur taluk has not yet started to function. The hospital looks gloomy and abandoned and wears the look of the haunted.

Doddanmane is on the outskirts of the city. A health center was constructed there as per the wishes of the villagers who were in need of a hospital. The total construction cost Rs. 34 lakhs.

Although the construction was completed two years back, the hospital is yet to start functioning. Doctors are yet to be appointed by the government. Moreover, the finance department has not yet sanctioned funds for the staff salary and various other expenditure of the hospital.

Despite the fact that a staff of seven, including a doctor, a group D worker, pharmacist, and others have been appointed, the center does not function.

The villagers have repeatedly requested the authorities concerned to inaugurate the hospital. Memorandums that had been submitted to Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri, the district in charge minister, various officials of the health department, and so on have been ignored.

The villagers still hope that the ministers will take interest in inaugurating the haunted hospital, appoint the required staff, and see that it begins functioning at the earliest possible.
