Mangalore Today News Network

Belthangady, Jan 3: Hosapete MLA B S Ananda Singh has given a baby elephant to Shri Dharmasthala. The baby elephant was brought to Dharmasthala from Assam in a lorry; and the journey lasted 13 days.

The people of Dharmasthala and Belthangady were excited to see the lorry, which was completely covered. The excitement rose when the lorry finally halted in front of the temple at around 9:45 p.m. on Friday. Slowly, the lorry was uncovered and the baby elephant emerged, wagging its tail.

When the grand daughter of Dr. Veerendra Hegde saw the baby elephant, she was very happy and started clapping. The crowd let out a yell of excitement.

The baby elephant, however, was tired after its long journey from Assam to Dharmasthala. There were tears of weariness in its eyes. After a good night’s rest, the baby elephant was garlanded; and Dr. Hegde formally welcomed it to Dharmasthala.
