Fish exporters must have identity card: government of India

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 1: The government of India has made it mandatory for fish exporters to possess an identity card in order to export fish to European countries. This law will come into effect from Jan 1, 2010.

The card will be issued by the Sea Products Export Development Authority. Fishermen who export fish to European countries either on their own or via agents are expected to possess this card.

A request has been made to boat owners to cooperate with this new scheme, which is called “Catch Certificate Validation Scheme,” introduced by MPEDA.
