Police arrest person for crime committed 19 years back

Udupi, Dec 28: Udupi police have nabbed a bus driver who has been absconding for 19 years after causing the death of a beggar woman in Kalyanpur Santhekatte on the national highway. 

The accused is Hameed who was arrested immediately following the accident in 1991. Hameed, however, got out on bail and was absconding till recently. 

PC Satish and ASI K Madhav successfully traced him to a house in Uppinangady, about 3 kms in Puttur and arrested him. The accused was later produced in court.
