Sahamata Film Society organizes free film appreciation workshop

Mangalore, Dec 26: The Sahamata Film Society is organizing a 2-day workshop on film appreciation in Sahodaya Hall, Balmatta, on Dec 26 - 27, Saturday and Sunday. Those interested can participate in the workshop free of charge. The main resource person is G Parameshwara Rao, the documentary film maker. 

Vittorio De Sica’s “The Bicycle Thief,” Satyajit Ray’s “Pather Panchali,” Girish Kasaravalli’s “Tabaranakatte,” Ritwik Ghatak’s  “Meghe Dhaka Tara,” Akira Kurosawa’s “The Throne of Blood,” Roman Polanski’s “Tragedy of Macbeth,” Ingmar Bergaman’s “Seventh Seal,” Gurudatt’s “Pyasa,” and Pattabhirama Reddy’s “Samskara” are scheduled to be viewed, analyzed, and discussed during the workshop.

Ivan D’Silva, the secretary of Sahamata Film Society, said that the purpose of the workshop is to create a common platform for creative and intellectual cultural interaction in Mangalore. 

The Sahamata Film Society comprises 11 academicians, progressive thinkers, and film enthusiasts who are eager to foster unity in coastal Karnataka via cultural activities.
