Mangalore, Dec 26: The Dakshina Kannada police have recommended the immediate arrest of 11 people under the Goonda Act. This act, also known as the Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities or Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders, and Slum Grabbers Act of 1985 can be used to arrest people who endanger communal peace and harmony.

The police say that these 11 persons are the “most wanted communal goondas.” Each has at least 15 cases registered against him, habitually creates communal disturbances in society, and either belongs to Hindutva groups such as Bajarang Dal or Sri Rama Sene or the Popular Front of India (PFI).

The police have sent files related to these 11 “most wanted communal goondas” to the district administration. They are now awaiting formal orders so that they can make the arrests.
