Kaiga radiation leak: what is the truth?

Mangalore Today News Network

Sirsi, Dec 7: Are the officials concerned trying to hide the truth from the public and the media persons?

On Nov 24, just a day after the mishap, the Kaiga management told media persons that only 45 people had drunk the doctored water from the cooler and none of them had fallen sick.

Two days later, J P Gupta, the director of Kaiga, issued a press release in which he said that, out of the 53 employees affected, only one had fallen sick.

The director of AERB, Om Paal Singh, said that only 2 employees were seriously affected by the radiation leak.

On Thursday, the Assistant Minister of the PM’s office Prathviraj Chavaan said that 92 employees of the first and second unit had fallen sick.

Gopal Hosur, the IGP of Karnataka Police (western range) stated that none of the employees had fallen sick.

Which of these statements is true? The media people suspect that the truth is being hidden from the public by the authorities concerned. The issue might also be hushed up shortly.
