2 held for trying to trade Star tortoise

Mangalore,Dece. 5:Two persons were held while trying to sell Star tortoise which they had found while working on the banks of Gurupur river. These endagered species are found in tropical rivers and has great craze in the internation market.

 

The arrested are Mohammed Masoor (20) and Puttu Monu (34), both daily-wage labourers who had by chance found the star tortoise while taking rest in the river bank. One of the contacted someone and found out that these species fetch big money.It is believed to be valued at around Rs 5 lakh in international market.

 The duo were trying to sell the tortoise for Rs 2 lakh near Polali arch. The police team lead by PSI Prakash nabbed them acting on a tip off.
