Valuable Panchaloha Idol Seized, 2 Arrested

Mangalore, Nov 16: District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCBI) police have confiscated a valuable idol of Dattatreya Swamy made of panchaloha from 2 people. 

The arrested are Satish Belchada (25) and Damodar Pandit (58), both residents of Kunjathhur Majal, Manjeshwar, Kasargod. Reliable sources claim that the police caught the accused red-handed when they were making attempts to sell the idol near a petrol bunk in Padil. 

Police say that, in an international market, the idol would fetch around Rs 10 lakhs. The idol, which is around 5 centuries old, weighs 5.8 kgs.
