Groups Clash in Bhatkal

Bhatkal, Nov 15: A group of young men stopped a vehicle carrying 15 oxen from Hubli to Bhatkal on grounds that the cattle were transported illegally. A verbal quarrel ensued between the men in the vehicle and the group of young men. 

The young men lodged a complaint at the local police station; and police arrested the driver of the vehicle while the others in the vehicle fled.

Later, a group of 300 people arrived at the police station and demanded that the group of young men be arrested for attacking people who were taking oxen to Bhatkal for Bakrid.
