Prestigious papal title posthumously bestowed on Rebimbus

Mangalore, June 20: The pope conferred the prestigious title of “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifiec” on late legendary Konkani singer “Konkan Koghul” Wilfy Rebimbus. This is the highest papal honor to be conferred on lay people in the Roman Catholic Church. Meena Rebimbus, wife of late Mr. Rebimbus, received the honor from the Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese Mrsgr Fr Dennis Moras on June 20, Sunday at the Jeppu Church immediately after the morning mass. 


Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza, the vicar of Jeppu Church, said that Wilfy had always been pro church and had worked hard for its welfare by exhibiting keen interest in its activities. He evangelized through his songs, ensuring that each song carried a moral message. 


Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, had conferred the honor on late Mr.Rebimbus on the day of St. Anthony’s feast on June 13. Members of United Youngsters, fans, friends, and family members of Wilfy Rebimbus, as well as parishioners were present. 


Vishwas Rebimbus, son of Mr. Wilfy Rebimbus, thanked all the people for their support.
