Monsoons to intensify: meteorological department

Mangalore, June 19: The intensity of the monsoons that struck the five coastal districts of Karnataka has reduced enough to permit farmers to begin work in the fields.  

The state government has warned that the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Udupi, and Shimoga are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next two days. The meteorological department has also confirmed that the monsoon will remain active over the five districts and that people can expect heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightening.  

The highest rainfall of 12cm during the last 24hrs was recorded at Agumbe.
