Kukke Adi Subrahmanya shrine priest assaulted by cop

Sullia, March 29, 2020:  A priest of the Kukke Adi Subrahmanya Shrine was allegedly assaulted by a police constable on March 28, Saturday evening. The incident took place when the priest Srinivas was  heading towards the temple to offer evening pooja.

It is said the constable Shanker, attached to the Subrahmanya police station, who was known to the priest, reportedly waylaid him and questioned where he was going during the  lockdown. Though the priest  told the cop that he was going to the temple to conduct pooja, the cop assaulted the latter with his lathi.

The Vipra Parivar organisation which has strongly condemned the incident has urged the SP to suspend the accused constable.
