Mangaluru, Feb 25 2020 DHNS: The Vittal police personnel conducted a raid on a tipper lorry at Kanthadka, Alike village of Bantwal taluk on Monday and seized 1.465 kg of ganja that was being transported.

The arrested has been identified as Harris, 27, resident of Alike. He was attempting to transport ganja worth Rs 20,000. The police have seized the tipper lorry worth Rs 6 lakh and a mobile phone worth Rs 2,000. A case has been registered.

Young women sent back to Mysuru

Mangaluru, DHNS: Members of Hindu organisations allegedly took eight young women from Mysuru and four young men, who had come to Birumale Betta on the outskirts of Puttur, to task on Sunday evening and handed them over to police.

The young women had come to take part in a marriage at Olathadka and later left with a group of youths hailing from the Muslim community in a Kerala registered vehicle to the Betta.

The Hindu activists, who noticed them, took them to the task and handed them over to the police.

As the news began to spread, a large number of people had gathered near the police station. However, the issue was sorted out amicably by the police and the young women were sent back to Mysuru.
