Transgender community to hold beauty pageant

Mangaluru, Dec 09, 2019:  ‘Navasahaja Miss Trans Tulunadu’, a beauty pageant for transgender community, will be organised at Town Hall today dec 9,  Monday.

Navasahaja Samudaya Sanghatane President Praveen Nikhil told mediapersons that they were planning to organise a state-level beauty pageant for transgender community in 2020.

He said the rehabilitation and empowerment of the members of transgender community in Dakshina Kannada has been moving at a slow pace.

While Udupi district administration has built houses for five members of transgender community, the Dakshina
Kannada district administration is yet to identify land, he added. The DK Advisory Committee which discusses rehabilitation of transgender community has not been reconstituted yet.
