River banks to get clean today, Uliya residents

Mangaluru, Nov 24, 2019: Residents of Uliya, with help of local organisations, have decided to launch a drive to clean the polluted river banks in Uliya, Hoige, Margatthale, Kattathale, Kakkethota, Pandelpakka, Kottara, Kodi and Kotepura in Ullal town Municipality limits today November 24, Sunday.

The volunteers will gather at Shri Bala Maruthi gymnasium in Manajanakudru and launch the drive at 2.30 pm. The campaign will end at Kolikatta Maidan.

Organisations in Uliya had submitted to DK DC, a memoranda on launching cleanliness drive on the river banks, Environment Department and Ullal Municipality too were briefed. Barring Ramakrishna Mission, none had responded to the pleas of the residents.

Environment, Ecology and Forests Department Director had responded to the memorandum of residents and issued notices to the municipality.  As a result of the desire the effort to day has materialised.
