’Amala Bharata’ cleanliness campaign at MU today

Mangaluru, Oct 02, 2019: Mangalore University (MU), with Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt, will organise ‘Amala Bharata Abhiyana- Swacchata Janajagarana Mahayajna’ on Mangalore University campus and its surrounding villages in Konaje, to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi,  October 2, today.

MU Vice Chancellor, Prof P S Yadapadithaya said that awareness will be created on the ill-effects of use of plastic among the public. Around 4,000 volunteers will be involved in the cleanliness drive on campus, the villages surrounding and roads leading to the University. Awareness will also be created on the need to increase green cover, segregate garbage at source and dispose it scientifically and not to litter the roads.

Young scientist Swasthik Padma, who had created awareness on the ill-effects of plastic, will be felicitated.

The programme will be inaugurated by Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt’s Brahmacharini Mangalamrta Chaitanya. MLA U T Khader, MRPL Group general manager B H V Prasad, actor Roopesh Shetty, KSRP 7th Battalion Commandant Janardhan R and Konaje GP President Nazar Sha Pattori will take part.
