Rare inscriptions found in Shanthinatha Basadi

Kalasa, Sep 20, 2019: Three rare inscriptions have been found in Shantinatha Swamy Basadi in Moornadu, Samse, near Kalasa.

The Basadi is of the period of Bhairava rulers. Researcher H R Panduranga said that one of the inscriptions was found on the pedestal of Vardhamana Swamy idol. As per the inscription, the idol belongs to 16th century AD and was consecrated by Padumana Setti of Simsanagadde.

Two other inscriptions belong to 1860 A D. The pedestal of the Shruthaskanda idol, it was consecrated by Varadayya Heggade of Moornadu, Samse. The Ganadhara Paduka in the Basadi, too, was consecrated by Heggade, as mentioned in the third inscription.
