Belthangady police arrest person for assaulting forest ranger

Belthangady , March 31: The Belthangady police have arrested a person on grounds of assaulting a forest ranger at Savanail Reserve Forest. The forest ranger in question had warned the accused against poaching wild creatures, stealing wood, and setting fire at the reserve forest. The accused had abused the ranger before assaulting him. 

 

The incident has also brought to light the disturbing fact that the officials of the forest department have been ignoring illegal activities such as poaching in the reserve forests. The villages have accused the officials of not taking any action to protect wildlife, owing to which forest rangers are finding it difficult to function effectively.
